Sundaresh & Reina

We’d like to re-live the end of the night when we got to let loose and celebrate with everyone on the dance floor!

Sundaresh and Reina met during their first year at the University of Auckland in 2016 while living in the same student accommodation. Sundaresh quickly developed a huge crush on Reina and eventually worked up the courage to ask her on a date… only to be turned down.

Later, they discovered the feelings had been mutual, but at the time, the timing simply wasn’t right. Almost two years after first meeting, they reconnected and decided to take the opportunity. Seven years later, here they are, married.

While searching for venues, they discovered Kauri Bay and were immediately drawn to its sweeping coastal views and beautiful outdoor setting. It perfectly captured the atmosphere they envisioned for their summer wedding, and with many family and friends travelling from overseas, it felt incredibly special to showcase the natural beauty New Zealand is known for.

One of their favourite parts of the day was having all of their loved ones together in one place especially those who had travelled so far to celebrate with them. Having one of their close friends officiate the ceremony made the day feel even more personal and meaningful.

If they could relive one moment, it would be the end of the night letting loose on the dance floor surrounded by the people they love most.

As a multicultural couple, Sundaresh being Indian Singaporean and Reina half Japanese, half Kiwi European it was important that the celebration reflected both of their cultures. Elements from each were woven throughout the day, including a Hindu ceremony alongside a western-style celebration.

Thoughtful details included magnolia flowers, origami cranes, and illustrations of their cat, Turbo, featured throughout the table numbers and seating chart.
